Last mile

Long journey, on a winding road
Mood swings, pendulum moves
Reflects the scene been seen
Who are you with, where one has been
Drum beats, hearts pump
Jubilation and million songs
Want this journey to prolong
Sorrows of some when want to share
Eyes shed tears, melancholy you hear
Distances appear, too much, hard to bear
Tryst in mind, sparrows sing sweet
songs of longing, and impending meet
possibilities endless, fly on your feet
All such journeys end one way or another
destinations you reach, memories you gather
further and further, until reaching the last mile

Pistachios

your smell remind of past
few decades ago I lost
when walking through wood
you put your hand in pocket
remove watch locket,
there they were
dry fruits, sweets,
my good behaviour treat
few handed over
for today’s walk
curiosity talks
Why, what, how, when
Air, Earth, snow and rain
Memory lane, says stop
Let the past vanish, suddenly drop
as when I remember I cry in pain
why time never comes back again
sometimes you really want it to
perhaps in few years you take the mettle,
impart what was given as a gift
be the old sage, destiny’s lift
fill pockets with sweet, savoury treats
walk with young on summer retreats

Smell still sweet?

in the mud
with a thud
lots of blood,
spilled, milled

out of life
still, I smiled
and smiled again
self professing

confessing
you can not
put me down
one of a kind

rare to find
and even in
blood burnt meat
I smell sweet
