That memory of you

longevity of
some precious moments
which last till eternity
in your memories,

when all else fails,
Thoughts start leaving you,
you still hold onto,
lasting, tasting that feeling,

how soft were those lips,
how eyes smiled,
how we flew in the air,
Stayed there for a while

warmness of temple,
blushing cheeks,
long full eye lashes,
slowly opening bliss

as you hold onto
prolonging, extending
tongue bending
passion sending, kiss

Hospitality

We met at the train station, it was so good to see her after such a long time. Her beautiful eyes had hints of longing, slight irritation, stories of years passed between us and some satisfaction to see me in good health. She asked her errand boy to give three beautiful marigold flowers to me one by one, he said to me each time in Urdu ‘yay-lo bhaijan’ which meant ‘take this brother’. We instantly laughed hearing that, knowing at least two other ways to interpret ‘yay-lo’. I was home and life was beautiful. My mother gave me a hug and jail time seemed like a distant past.

Depth

Deep, shallow,
who is to decide
is poetry deep
just ostentatious
mind peeps
showing off ability
to word juggle
when others struggle
Idle walk
people talk
assumed shallow
totally hollow
what if it is about wellbeing
of a loved one
finding solutions
someone’s pains
Life’s stains
crave for some
one or thing
Infatuation real shallow
Love oh so deep
Pure hunger, banal
connoisseur taste, steep
Inconsistency, hypocrisy
That is all to keep
Rest is just shallow
Sure

Looking through

Nothing on the other side
All we seek is inside
Within us, stop searching thus
Soul, heart will show the way
Every night, each day,
Just listen, let them have their say
In this, perhaps only here, you may
find redemption

Greetings

I am nearly dearly here
Another beautiful day
Another amazing morn
Sapiens will wake up
New ideas will be born
Trees, flowers, orchids
Gardens will be adorned
Just for a moment
When you have one
Think life without me
Tell me what you see
winter, spring, summer or fall
morning run or evening ball,
flower beds, trees so tall,
bird tweets and cockerel call,
Nothing?…you say nothing at all

Funeral of the last butterfly

I was invited
to the funeral
of the last butterfly
All the birds were there
Insects made a wreath
Queen bee sung a melancholy
Grief too great to bear
Colours already left
Now the last butterfly gone
Everyone felt so lonely
Earthlings were alone
Far away in the sky
a thunder cloud
lightning strike,
a Phoenix flew in
Tears in its eyes,
sprayed on butterfly wings
Butterfly come to life
In all our hearts
Light of her soul
removed despair
Humanity wake up
When would you care
Planet is for all
We have to share
Might won’t work
win if we dare
Extinction of plants
Insects, animals all admire
Greenery in gardens
Fields and shire
Everything could go
If we don’t spare
Consume less,
Don’t scare
Nature, heavens
Water, our own air
Wind may blow
So does rain
Last butterfly
may flutter again
I wish, hope and pray

Never stop dreaming

immersed in the beauty

upon, down, around, on

and I feel the pulse

life is kicking, passion screaming

and this pauper commence dreaming

of a time when pure pleasure

takes over and lust pressures

blue eyed gold strands moon visage

losing reality to a beautiful mirage

Istanbul – çok pahalı çok güzel

In the city of deep
thoughtful eyes
early morning
muezzin calls to paradise
not many bother to go
they are already there, I say
Angels forgot to obey
word of the Lord
and remove the Bosporus
Marmara and Black Sea
to adorn heaven
number seven
and I sat on the bank
looked up and said
thank you for a glimpse
my sins are great
redemption unlikely
let me be, touch and see
perhaps rewrite my fate
erase all else
love and hate
big hits and misses
just plenty of hugs
perhaps thousand kisses
from dames of Eden, on earth

Surrounded

Concrete giants
Block my way
Shouting at me
We are here to stay
May I humbly ask
How old are you
Twenty, thirty, forty
Or fifty two
We last hundred years
Or lot more
If humans stay away
And leave our core
Stay for a while
Have a tea
You will be gone soon
But I will be
