Are they
resting in peace
Or crying for help
down and deep
souls in heaven
rot of bones
getting rewards
buried in stones
Suffering
Hell and fire
rivers of milk
dames of desire
Repent repent
Emptiness
Feel guilty
Just nonsense
Enjoy till you die
Or refrain
Conflicting thoughts
Can’t abstain
One reality
Clear and sound
Death around
Death abound

Stunning words. I found them moving. I did a nature study once of the different lichens growing on tombs. It felt a strange thing to do in a cemetery but made us look so much closer at the stone memorials. Your photograph and words brought back that memory. Great post.

Many thanks Lita for your wonderful comment. We all need to spend some time every year in a cemetery to contemplate, good for our perspective on life and how we see it 🙂

Beautiful. Dying is still one of those mysteries we know nothing about. I like your imagery here.

I love walking quietly around cemeteries. Reading the headstones. Thinking about the people and what their lives might of been like.
Your photos and poem are rich in imagery!

It shakes me to look at tombs thinking I will be buried like that one day.

Great post, AB! Its a nice reminder of how fragile our lives really are. And I like how old the headstones are. It brings a nice contrast to the present.
