Red metal cage

Life is an entrapment
Materialistic possessions
Having this and that
Going here and there
Not a moment to spare
For love, passion, humanity
Elation, happiness, sanity
Envy takes keys of freedom
Toss it to sister vanity
Cage is self built
Trinkets to the hilt
Before it is felt,
Body nearly melts
Soul is released
Breath is ceased
Last word β€˜Alas’
How life had passed
Total utter loss

      1. I agree. As Ralph Waldo Emerson once said, “The world is for the energetic.” If one can have both worlds, why not? As always, great post, AB. πŸ™‚

    1. Thank you so much Christy 😊 we, sapiens, waste most of our lives running after one or another wasteful dream, while at the same time forget living the best years of our lives 😳

      1. I wish envy was only limited to city dwellers, my experience suggests country side also have several chips on shoulder, inferiority complexes etc 😊
